When we think of birth we think of an infant being born into the world.
When I think of birth I think of the seed in gestation that has been awakened to see the light.
So if today is your birthday, it can be the day you were born out of the womb and into the world, or it can be the day you died and gave birth to your soul.
Birth from the eyes of mother and father
We have been waiting for you for nine months
and nine days and nine hours and here you arrive today
With your arrival comes a mountain of not salt
but of hopes
hopes that you smile with your lips but from your heart
May you leave foot prints of justice in the world and
only use your words to heal and bridge
Please remember that you are not alone in the world
we are all connected by a web of light
Look around and you will recognize
that all those around you were seeds in gestation
in the universe that shine bright now
Birth from the eyes of child
Oh how uncertain I have been while I have been in flight in the womb of my mother
and hearing the voice of those who loved me already before I arrived
I could feel the excitement for my arrival
and now I know how lucky I have been to come into this wonderful world
There is a purpose for this arrival and I look forward to knowing where my steps lead me in life
Thank you for carrying me in the womb until I was ready to arrive in your arms
Thank you for housing my body that carries my soul that is here to join other souls in flight
The flight of light

I love the dialogue between the unborn infant and the soon to be mother and father. It is so magical the way you see the birth from each perspective. Only you’d be able to transplant yourself in both their beings and souls. I hope there will be more to come of these letters and dialogues between spirits. I love love love this poem on birth.

Yes, the beauty of the real words from the womb. We have all said it, even if we have not all heard it. Yes, so far I have also written about death in the same way. From the eyes of the person dying and the person sitting next to the person dying and also the universe receiving the body and soul in hope for flight. And once I hear more of these dialogues I will share them with you: )

A beautiful reflection on the beginnings of a flight into light. This poem has many layers and many voices. May the words also bring hope to the many whose voices are not always heard and to the many who wait to embark upon new beginnings after times of struggle and pain.
Appropriate too is your sharing it again on a day which is your birthday, Mother’s Day, the first day of Spring and the Iranian New Year.
Happy Birthday! May the light you share spread far and wide.
