Sleepless eyes

How can it be to close ones eyes and wait for the familiar friend and yet the friend does not arrive
The friend that has been with me since birth and even beyond
Sleep is such a space I long for
Space is such a friend I wait for tonight
From the place above the castle in the sky I look at other homes with their lights on
and i know there are people sleeping inside, but the homes where the lights are off
I feel are the ones where others lie sleepless eyes
Even when I cover my eyes with my hands I can still SEE
How can I shut if off
I want to see the quietness of the waterfall of the tear drops longing to depart
I want to see the unicorns and mermaids in my sleep and I want to fly and soar the skies
I want to leave my cage and meet the others who are AWAKE to the world
I want to remain like a candle with the wick half lit longing to burn all night
I will go to the linen white sheets full of bed bugs and ask to be taken to my death bed still alive
I long to close my eyes and see sleep one more time
My eyes wide shut waiting for another sleepless night
